Gale Rhys Humphreys
Gale was a loving Husband, Father, Grandpa, Brother, and Friend. He left this world on November 14th, 2022, at the age of 82, with family by his side, after a long battle with congestive heart failure. Gale was born to Rhys Humphreys and Georgie Ann Moore Humphreys in John Day, Oregon. He attended Dayville Grade School, Oregon City Grade School, and graduated for Jefferson High School in 1958. After High School Gale started working at Nabisco where he worked for 44 years until his retirement in 2001. In 1962 he met Patricia Sue Hogan, and they married after a short courtship in 1963. They were married for 59 years. Together they had two sons Jeff and Eric. He lived most of his young life on the Humphreys Ranch in Kimberly, Oregon where the family raised sheep and cattle.
Through the years he was an avid hunter, square dancer, youth soccer coach, adult leader for Boy Scouts, member of the Order of the Arrow, and very skilled at DIY projects. Kindhearted and witty, he was a hard worker with strong ethics. After retirement Gale, spent his time traveling, reading 100's of western books, making donations to various casinos and spending time with his family. Gale is preceded in death by his brother Edmond Dale Humphreys, sister Leta Rhaye Kersey. He is survived by his wife Patricia Sue Hogan Humphreys, his sons Jeffery Rhys Humphreys (wife Tessie), Eric Scott Humphreys (wife Alycia), Grandson Quinn Rhys Humphreys and Aiden Lee Humphreys. Other family members, sister-in-law Fern Humphreys, his sister Greta Lee Wright, (husband Bob), brother-in-law Jack Thomas Hogan (wife Jody), brother-in law Howard Willian Hogan and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Celebration Of Life will be held at the Sunnyside Community Church, 16444 SE HWY 212, Damascus, Oregon 11:00 AM on January 7th. 2023. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association on his behalf.
