April 13, 1931 to October 19, 2022- Elaine was born in her grandparent's home in New Haven, Indiana. She was the third of six children.

The family moved to a farm in Fort Wayne when she was six years old, where they lived until 1948 when they moved to Portland. Mom met Dad, Norman Gynther, in 1949 and they were married on, June 23, 1951. They had three children J Stuart (Tina), Marcia Ann Reiter (Pat) and Michael Fiske (Linda). The family moved to a seven-acre farm, in Sandy, in 1965, where the children grew up. The family became members at Immanuel Lutheran Church, where mom was always very involved with multiple activities. She valued her church family and the many lifelong friendships she developed over the years. She also stayed in touch with friends from her childhood in Indiana. Mom remained in Sandy until her passing. She is survived by her children and their spouses as well as three grandchildren, Mel {Sarah), Jason (Cynthia) and Ann Marie (Frank) and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Arlene Moore and Joyce Ownbey, and many cousins. She was proceeded in death by her husband Norman, her parents, one sister and two brothers.
