Thelma Louise Dorrance
Thelma Louise Dorrance, 87, of Canby, Ore., passed away Oct. 20, 2022.
Thelma was born March 25, 1935, to William and Elanor Jordan in Roosevelt, Minn. She moved to Oregon at the age of 16. She was married to Arthur Dorrance for 58 years.
Thelma was an active volunteer for the Canby American Legion and the Canby Senior Center. Hobbies included bowling, bingo, knitting, crocheting, cooking, fishing the Snake River in the spring, crabbing and clamming in Netarts every summer, deer and elk hunting in eastern Oregon in the fall and going south in the winter. She was a member of TOPS. She loved cooking so much she even owned her own restaurants. She could make a feast out of a little dab of this and that. She loved plants and flowers and had the greenest thumb of anyone.
She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. It can truly be said that Thelma never spent a lazy day in her life. Family, friends, and strangers alike, she made everyone feel welcome. She always made sure everyone had a place at the dinner table, and that no one spent a holiday alone. She was much loved and will dearly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Beauchamp; and two daughters, Laurie VanDyke, and Pamela Doyle. Another son, Darrell Beauchamp, proceeded her in death in 1977. She also had two stepchildren, Scott, and Linda Dorrance. She had 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral was held Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022, at the Canby Funeral Home, with a graveside service, followed by a Celebration of Life luncheon.
