The Woodburn Independent is seeking a highly motivated general news reporter adept at coverage of spot news as well as in-depth enterprise journalism. This position covers city and county government, crime/court, education and business. We need someone who loves to chase down leads to break news, is versed in digital media, with photography and InDesign experience. A bachelor's degree in journalism or communications and an understanding of AP style is preferred. Bilingual in Spanish would be helpful but not required. Sports Writer

for a full-time sportswriter to cover a variety of local sports for print and Web. Candidates must have strong reporting and interviewing skills, generate story ideas on an assortment of beats, be well-organized, take direction well and have a strong desire to provide in-depth, unique coverage to our readers. Candidates must be able to write news and game stories on deadline, and be creative in writing features and profiles. A good understanding of AP style and social media is necessary, as well as the ability to shoot sports photos. Will be expected to help manage the Portland Tribune web sports page. Work schedule can be somewhat flexible and depend on the weekly sports calendar, but the position will require work on weekends and nights.

The Madras Pioneer is seeking a well-rounded Sports Editor -- write stories, take photos, and design your pages. Position is responsible for sports section of weekly newspaper. Cover two high schools and community/outdoor news. Experience preferred but we will train the right candidate. We use InDesign for pagination.
