The girls fell 93-77 but won plenty of events as the team gears up for the final few weeks of the season.

The Lions opened the meet with a convincing win in the 200 medley relay. Laura Laderoute, Brie Balsbough, Kylie Norris and Brianna Dyrdahl cruised in a time of 1:54.26.

Two races later, Laderoute outdueled Abby Lyons in the individual medley, winning in 2:12.93, her best time of the season.

In the 50 freestyle, Balsbough knocked off one of her top rivals in the league, winning by nearly half a second in 24.74.

Norris and Maxi Muessig finished 2-3 in the 100 butterfly and that was followed by Robin Pinger scoring an impressive win in the 100 freestyle, just missing her best time of the year with a 55.59.

Laderoute scored her second win of the meet in the 100 backstroke and it wasn't close. Laderoute's time of 1:00.15 was six seconds faster than her closest competitor.

Pinger also scored another win for the Lions, claiming the breaststroke in 1:08.36.

Finally, West Linn's 400 freestyle relay team of Norris, Laderoute, Pinger and Sarah Cooper won the final event of the meet in 3:54.71.

For the boys, the Lions couldn't match up to Lake Oswego's much larger squad in a 124-44 loss but their top swimmers matched up well with Lake Oswego.

Parker Kilstrom got West Linn started with a narrow win in the 200 freestyle, eclipsing his best time of the season with a 1:54.25.

Kilstrom had a terrific night, smashing his best time in the 100 butterfly by nearly four-tenths of a second and winning the race in 55.88 seconds.

The 500 freestyle was one of the evening's best races with three swimmers battling down the stretch. In the end, West Linn's Zach Reid edged out the Lakers' Marco Wolmarans in a time of 5:30.55.

West Linn has one regular season meet remaining against Southridge Thursday before districts Feb. 14-15.
