New styling, enhanced features, expanded trim and performance updates will be available on the 2019 Malibu, Cruze, spark and Camaro.

If you follow automotive news, you know that small SUVs are the hottest selling vehicles on the market right now. But while SUVs have been grabbing the headlines, passenger cars still represent about 25% of the retail vehicle market.

To grow market share in this still-critical segment, Chevrolet has invested in its passenger car lineup with new styling, enhanced features and expanded trim choices for the 2019 Malibu mid-size sedan, Cruze compact sedan and hatchback, and the Spark mini-hatch. Additionally, Chevy's Camaro performance car has been updated for 2019.

The successful Malibu mid-size line will offer an RS trim with blacked-out styling cues including a black sport grille, black bowtie emblems, a rear spoiler, 18-inch machined wheels and dual-outlet exhaust. New interior features in the RS trim include a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, black cloth seats and standard 8-inch diagonal touchscreen for the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system. A new continuously variable transmission is standard on models equipped with the 1.5L turbocharged engine.

The 2019 Cruze compact receives new interior color options, a new infotainment system utilizing a standard 7-inch diagonal color touchscreen and standard remote start and automatic climate control on LT and Premier trims. There is also a new upgrade LS trim in the Cruze Hatchback, which accounted for 20 percent of all Cruze sales in its first full year of production.

PORTLAND TRIBUNE: JEFF ZURSCHMEIDE - Changes to the subcompact 2019 Chevry Spark include new front-end styling.

Chevrolet's popular Spark subcompact will feature new front-end styling similar to the updated Malibu and Cruze, several bright new color options, and optional Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking.

Chevrolet has also updated its popular Camaro performance car with new bodywork for 2019. There will be distinct differences between the LS/LT models, the RS, and the SS, giving each model a unique look.

Chevrolet is also giving the Camaro an optional sport suspension across the lineup. The top-performing SS model receives a new 10-speed paddle-shifted automatic transmission with launch control. New Camaro options also include a camera-based rear view mirror and forward collision alerts.

The 2019 Chevrolet Camaro, Malibu, Cruze and Spark models will all go on sale later this year.
