The juried 2015 Portland Rose Festival Art Show, an officially sanctioned event of the annual Portland Rose Festival, selected In Full Bloom by Lake Oswego artist Anna Porter as Best in Show. Porter uses watercolor, mixed media and digital photography to capture intimate details in nature. Her floral landscapes, abstract paintings and digital photographs have been shown in galleries in Oregon, Idaho and online. In Full Bloom is a close-up mixed-media painting of a backlighted rose rendered in watercolor, and is available for purchase. Contact Porter at info@annaporterartist.com. The 2015 exhibit will be on display through July 10 at the Gallery at Oregon Society of Artists, 2185 S.W. Park Place, Portland. The gallery is open from 1-4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

An opening reception will be held today from 5-7 p.m. The exhibit is titled Hallowed Ground. The artists statement explains the exhibit this way: The voice of artist and seedlings chanting Save land, grow food. The changing landscape implores my brush to document memories. Views of sacred hallowed ground in fields, open spaces and farms dotting the contoured hillsides  revealing striated clay jory soil, layered hues, connecting me, connecting us. Stewards of the land, revering Mother Earth, we will remain. Art Elements Gallery is located at 604 E. First St. in Newberg. This piece is titled Hallowed Ground.
