by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - New York saxophonist Hailey Niswanger, formerly of West Linn, will be playing at Jimmy Maks, 221 NW 10th St., Portland, on Aug. 1 We play three sets on the first, Niswanger said. And I have an all-star rhythm section with me: George Colligan on piano, Dylan Sundstrom on bass and Christopher Brown on drums. Niswanger recently played with Colligans quintet at Smalls jazz club in New York, receiving rave reviews. The energy is expected to take over Jimmy Maks stage as the musicians explore original material from all of the band members, as well as some classic material. Tickets are $12 at the door. The music starts at 8 p.m. Learn more about Niswangers career online at haileyniswanger.com.
