The Bowmen boys step up in the relay events at last week's Three Rivers League meet

But the Bowmen squads came up just short.

The Sherwood teams were swept by Lake Oswego in a Three Rivers League dual meet held last Thursday at the Lake Oswego District Pool.

The Sherwood boys fell 101-69 to Lake Oswego at the meet. With the loss, the Bowmen moved to 0-3 in league meets, while the Lakers improved to 3-0.

The Bowmen did well in the relay events, taking first place in two of those three races.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the Sherwood team of senior Brandon Hughes, junior Braeden Howard, senior Danny Bassich and junior Samuel Ettelstein had a winning time of 1 minute, 48.97 seconds.

In the 200 freestyle relay, the Bowmen team of Bassich, Hughes, senior Eugene Tan and sophomore Jacob Folsom triumphed with a mark of 1:36.53.

Folsom also sprinted to victory in the 50 freestyle in 23.84. Bassich picked up a win in the 100 butterfly in 59.17.

The Sherwood girls were edged 96-74 by the Lakers at the meet. The Lady Bowmen moved to 2-2 in league meets with the setback, while Lake Oswego stayed perfect at 3-0.

The Lady Bowmen didn't have any individual victories, but they still had some strong swims.

Sherwood sophomore Sophia Richardson took second in the 200 freestyle in 2:22.12. Junior Emily Pannell was the runner-up in the 200 individual medley in 2:27.22. Sophomore Hunter Stewart was second in the 100 butterfly in 1:06.97 and she also was second in the 100 backstroke in 1:09.36.

Sophomore Grace Pessemier sprinted to second in the 100 freestyle in 1:02.03.

The Bowmen teams will be back in action today (Thursday) when they face Tualatin in a league dual meet starting at 4 p.m. at the Tualatin Swim Center.
