Man stabs self at Sherwood McDonalds

Man told police he was robbed and stabbed in lower back Thursday morning.

by: FILE PHOTO - Police closed the Sherwood McDonald's Thursday morning after a man reported he had been stabbed. The restaurant opened several hours later.
Sherwood police say the stabbing of a man believed to be in his 30s at the Sherwood McDonald’s last week appears to be self-inflicted.

The call came in about 9:01 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, regarding a man lying in the parking lot of the restaurant who had been stabbed.

“Our initial response was under the belief this was a stabbing and robbery,” said Capt. Ty Hanlon, a spokesman for the Sherwood Police Department.

The man, who police are not identifying, told them someone had taken his wallet.

However, Hanlon said an investigation showed “this was a self-inflicted wound.”

The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Hanlon said the McDonald’s restaurant, located at 21335 S.W. Sherwood Blvd., was closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation.

No further information is being released at this time, Hanlon said.
