Oregon State Police say the encounter began around 9 a.m. on Sunday, June 10, after two troopers spotted a black Toyota Camry that had been linked to an alleged domestic assault reported to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

The troopers approached the car while it was parked at the Road Runner gas station, located at 52023 Columbia River Highway in Scappoose.

Police say the person of interest in the assault — Orin Graves, 43, of Warren — was inside the vehicle, as well as a rear passenger: Christopher Corwin, 30, of Lebanon.

Corwin allegedly "became combative and assaulted two troopers," according to a news release. The authorities say Corwin had to be medically sedated by police because of suspected drug use.

Corwin was arrested on several warrants, including one in Linn County for failing to appear in court. State Police say they will also pursue charges for allegedly resisting arrest and assaulting an officer.

Court records show Corwin faces a variety of charges in multiple court cases that have not yet been resolved, including felon in possession of a firearm, menacing and first-degree criminal mischief.

Graves has been arrested on a warrant while sheriff's deputies continue to investigate the domestic disturbance, according to a news release. Court records indicate he has also been charged with failure to register as a sex offender in Columbia County and has previously been convicted of driving under the influence of intoxicants and providing alcohol to a minor.

Oregon State Police were assisted during the "altercation" by local police and an off-duty officer from Forest Grove.

Both troopers received "minor injuries" and were treated and then released from Legacy Emanuel hospital in Portland.
