Driver killed in NE Portland crash
An adult male driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Northeast Portland on Tuesday, Nov. 21.
The deceased driver is identified as 49-year-old Clayton D. Hopper. His death was the 46th traffic fatality of the year in Portland.
According to police, at 9:58 p.m. on Nov. 21, East Precinct officers responded to the report that a vehicle had crashed into a power pole near the intersection of Northeast Glisan Street and Northeast 75th Avenue.
When officers and emergency medical personnel arrive, they located a white sedan with a single occupant. The sedan had collided with a power pole and the driver appeared to have sustained injuries as a result of the crash.
Emergency medical personnel medical aid and transported the victim to a local hospital by ambulance. Once here arrived at the hospital, medical personnel determined the man was deceased.
Officers did not immediately located any witnesses to the crash. The Portland Police Bureau Major Crash Team responded to the area to take over the investigation. Criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division are also responding to assist with the investigation.
Northeast Glisan Street was closed for several hours between Northeast 74th Avenue and Northeast 76th Avenue as members of the Major Crash Team investigate this crash.
