Store clerk attacked Monday morning
Police have arrested a 35-year-old man who attacked a convenience store clerk with a knife Monday morning.
Jerome Michael Bond was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Fourth Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Menacing.
The clerk, Heeson Lee, 54, was not seriously injured.
According to police, at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Oct 8, officers responded to the report of an assault at the Stop 'N Save Market, located at 7720 Southeast Foster Road. When they arrived, the officers spoke with Lee, who said that the suspect entered the store and came behind the counter as he slashed a knife at her, cutting her on the chest.
Lee said that she ran out of the store and the suspect chased her, but once outside, the suspect ran away southbound on Southeast 77th Avenue.
Officers canvassing the area, located the suspect at Southeast 74th Avenue and Insley Street, and took him into custody. Officers noted that he appeared to be under the influence of methamphetamine.
