Cruz, Zunino and Seager hit homers for Seattle, which beats Tampa Bay for third win in four-game series; returning home, Mariners play Angels

SEAGERHome runs by Nelson Cruz, Mike Zunino and Kyle Seager powered Seattle to a 5-4 win Sunday against Tampa Bay at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The Mariners (41-24) took three of four games in the series and now return home to play the Los Angeles Angels and Boston Red Sox. Seattle and L.A. play at 7 p.m. Monday, with Wade LeBlanc (0-1) pitching opposite Andrew Heaney (3-4).

The Rays fell to 29-35. They waved home a runner on a soft single in the bottom of the ninth inning, and Mitch Haniger threw out the runner at home.

James Paxton had a fine outing to move to 6-1 with a 3.02 ERA. He gave up five hits and three runs while striking out 10 and walking none.

Cruz hit a solo homer in the second inning.

Zunino tied it 3-3 with a two-run homer in the sixth inning, and Seager hit the big two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning for a 5-3 lead.

Despite giving up a couple hits, Edwin Diaz notched his major league-leading 23rd save, thanks to Haniger's throw and Zunino's tag to put out Johnny Field to end the game.
