Prep track and field: The Oregon School Activities Association state championships start today at Hayward Field in Eugene. The meets, for Class 6A through 1A, run through Saturday.

Prep tennis: The OSAA state championships get underway, with matches for 6A and 5A at Tualatin Hills Tennis Center (boys) and Portland Tennis Center (girls) and 4A/3A/2A/1A competition at Oregon State. The tournament continues through Saturday.

Prep baseball: In a 4A play-in game, La Salle Prep visits Cottage Grove, 4:30 p.m.

Prep softball: Central Catholic is at Jesuit, and Marshfield is at La Salle Prep, 5 p.m.

College baseball: Cal plays Oregon at PK Park, 7 p.m. (Pac-12 Networks).

College track and field: Concordia takes aim at the NAIA outdoor national championships today through Saturday at Gulf Coast, Ala.

Friday, May 23

Prep track and field: Day 2 of three at the OSAA state championships for Class 6A-1A, Hayward Field.

Prep tennis: State tournament play resumes for 6A and 5A at Tualatin Hills Tennis Center (boys) and Portland Tennis Center (girls). The 4A/3A/2A/1A tourney continues at Oregon State.

Prep baseball: 5A play-in, Wilson at Sandy, 5 p.m.

Prep softball: 5A play-in, Mountain View at Wilson, 4 p.m.

College baseball: No. 2-ranked Oregon State wraps up its Pac-12 season and tries to claim its second title in as many years with a road series at USC. First pitch today is 4 p.m. (Pac-12 Networks). ... Cal is at Oregon, 7 p.m. (Pac-12 Networks). ... No. 1-ranked NCAA Division III Linfield opens play at the national tournament in Appleton, Wis., facing St. Thomas at 8 a.m. PT. The tourney goes through Tuesday, May 27.

College men’s golf: The Oregon Ducks, who finished second in their NCAA regional after being seeded seventh, tee off in the NCAA championships at Hutchinson, Kansas, as coach Casey Martin takes his squad to the tourney for the fifth time in eight years. The event, at Prairie Dunes Country Club, runs through Tuesday, May 27.

Saturday, May 24

Timbers: The New York Red Bulls play host to Portland, 4 p.m. PT (Root Sports).

Thorns: Portland has a National Women’s Soccer League match at Providence Park against Sky Blue FC, 7 p.m.

Prep track and field: The final day of the OSAA state championships for Class 6A-1A, Hayward Field.

Prep tennis: The state championships conclude at Tualatin Hills Tennis Center (6A, 5A) and at Oregon State (4A/3A/2A/1A).

College baseball: Oregon State takes on USC in Los Angeles in the middle game of their Pac-12 finale series, 2 p.m. ... Oregon heads into the postseason after tonight’s conference finale at home against California, 7 p.m. (Pac-12 Networks).

College softball: Oregon opens a best-of-three NCAA super regional at home against Minnesota. The first game starts today at 7 p.m. (ESPN2).

Sunday, May 25

College baseball: Oregon State’s final Pac-12 game is at USC, noon (Pac-12 Networks).

College softball: Game 2 of the Oregon-Minnesota super regional is at Eugene’s Howe Field, 2 p.m. (ESPN).

Monday, May 26

College softball: Game 3, if necessary, of the Oregon-Minnesota super regional is set for 5 p.m. at Eugene (ESPN2).

Prep baseball: Central C atholic, Jesuit and Lincoln all have first-round 6A playoff home games as the 32-team tournament begins.

• Trail Blazers guard Isaiah Rider is convicted of a noncriminal violation — possession of less than an ounce or marijuana — and fined $500 in Clackamas County District Court.

• The Oregon Sports Hall of Fame breaks ground on a new location. The museum plans to move in September 1997 from a Standard Insurance basement to its own digs at 321 S.W. Salmon St.

• Portland’s Arena Football League team, the Forest Dragons, struggle with a 1-3 record, after falling 40-9 to the Orlando Predators before 8,678 at the Rose Garden.
