COLLEGE HOOPS: Concordia men win; Schimmel hits 7 from 3-point range

MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Concordia Cavaliers completed their non-league slate on Tuesday and claimed their eighth consecutive victory.

The Cavs, ranked 24th in NAIA Division II, improved to 17-4 overall with their 92-43 win at home over Portland Bible.

Concordia returns to Cascade Collegiate Conference play with a Saturday night home battle against crosstown Warner Pacific, which is tied for second with the Cavs at 6-3.

Anthony Holton's 14 points led Concordia on Tuesday. Adam Herman and Marquis Matthews added 12 points apiece, Willy Ligon had 10, and Ryan Miller and Davis Nuami each had nine for a bench that supplied 48.

Concordia shot 51.6 percent from the field, while holding the Wildcats to 31.9 percent.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Shoni Schimmel from Franklin High bombed in 7 of 11 shots from 3-point range Tuesday to lead No. 5 Louisvllle past Houston 93-52 at Houston.

Schimmel, a senior guard, finished with 25 points and eight rebounds.

The Cardinals have won 12 games in a row and are 19-1 overall and 7-0 in the American Athletic Conference.

Houston fell to 4-14, 0-7 AAC.

Schimmel was 2 of 3 on 2-point attempts, and the Cards made 54 percent overall from the field.

Louisville pulled away with a 55-23 edge in the second half.
