Bonita 'Bonny' Kay Low
Bonny Low was born in The Dalles, OR to Lyle and Helen Ostrander. Bonny and her brother Gary were raised in Kinzua and Fossil, OR.
She attended Eastern Oregon University and the University of Oregon and later got her master's at Portland State University. While on summer break from the University of Oregon she met Pete Low of Condon, OR. After teaching two years in Wasco, OR the two were married in Fossil in 1970 and moved to Tigard where they have lived since.
Bonny was a schoolteacher, teaching pretty much primarily in the Tigard-Tualatin School District after first teaching in Sherwood, OR for three years. Initially she started teaching in the middle elementary grades but then with the help of Dorothea Fix as her mentor she moved to first grade and remained there for the rest of her career, all at Durham Elementary School. She was a respected and well-loved teacher for a number of years; even winning Tigard Teacher of the Year in 1988. Bonny retired in 2003.
Among other interests, Bonny enjoyed travel. She and Pete traveled to Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and also all across the United States. She also found great joy in cheering on her students at sporting events. During the last ten years of her life, she started attending Calvin Presbyterian Church. She was a happy woman and a positive force.
Bonny is survived by her husband Peter Low, her older brother Gary Ostrander, and six nieces and nephews.
