Ronald M. Roecker
Ron was born in Portland to Victor and Alice Roecker. His two sisters are Shirlee Kampmann and Marlene Russau. They attended Parkrose High School and Ron graduated in 1949 after making his mark in track, baseball, football, and basketball.
He worked at Sears and Meier & Frank installing drapes and in the printing business until he began working at Boyd Coffee Co. for 35 years. He became a coffee expert in tasting, blending, and buying and was vice-president of manufacturing.
Ron met his wife, Eilene Reagan West, at Trout Creek Bible Camp while on staff the summer of 1957. They married June 6, 1958 and had 59 years and two months together. Their three children are Janice Roecker Tarlecki, Larry Wayne Roecker, and Jeffrey Ryan Roecker. He enjoyed his 5 grandchildren and supported them in all their activities. Katharine Roecker, Rachel Kulak (Joshua), Samuel Roecker (Cianna), Wendy Hesselman (Stephen) and Amy Karas (Anthony). There are 8 great-grandchildren: Jacob and Ezra Kulak, Aston Roecker, Emily, Rylie, and George Hesselman, Sophia & William Karas.
Ron was a trustee at Multnomah University for 25 years and taught Sunday school and Bible studies to all age groups. He served at Central Bible Church, Milwaukie Baptist and Damascus Community Church. With his gift of discernment he helped select two college presidents and one church pastor.He was also known as a great fisherman (both of fish and men). That talent was used in the lives of many, including his family.
When he learned that he had Parkinsons in 2012 he never complained but was a prayer warrior and an inspiration to all he came in contact with. He never lost his sense of humor. He is with the lord he loved.
Memorial service will be held at Damascus Community Church 14251 SE Rust Way, Damascus, Or 97089 (off of HWY 212) Wednesday August 16th at 11:00am
