Alder Creek Kayak returns with canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards
Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce that Alder Creek Kayak will open its summer operations at George Rogers Park and Tryon Cove May 26 for the Memorial Day weekend.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Alder Creek will offer rentals of kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddleboards.
George Rogers Park rental service will be available weekends only through June 24, then available seven days a week through Aug. 26.
Tryon Cove rental service will be available weekends only May 26 through Sept. 3.
Alder Creek Kayak will be offering classes starting in June in SUP Yoga, Basic Skills SUP and Basic Skill Kayak. Visit www.aldercreek.com for pricing, class dates, registration and rental information.
Campfire Evening at the Farm — Bring a picnic dinner and spend an evening at Luscher Farm. Children and their families explore different areas of Luscher Farm and enjoy a variety of discovery-based activities. Help with a planting project, and enjoy s'mores around the campfire. Aging Vibrantly with Optimal Nutrition — By regularly eating recommended foods and avoiding inflammatory foods, you can significantly reduce your risk of developing chronic diseases associated with aging. Tai Chi Yang Family Style — Featuring the Yang-style 24 movement short and long forms. Ongoing instruction for students with previous experience; beginners always welcome. Classes may be held outdoors at Millennium Plaza Park on sunny days at instructor's discretion. Aug. 21-30 classes are held in Millennium Plaza Park only. For ages 18+, 9-11 a.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 5-Aug 30, Adult Community Center (505 G Ave), $30.
Bob Ross Oil Painting — Easy step-by-step class takes beginners to seasoned painters from blank canvas to finished masterpiece in one class. All supplies provided. Origami Workshop — Use this unique Japanese art form to create your own gifts, ornaments and more. Origami uses critical thinking and can enhance problem solving skills, creativity and patience. All supplies provided. For ages 18+, 9:30-11:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 20, Adult Community Center (505 G Ave), $22.
Dance for Adults
Tap for Adults — Have fun while getting that all-important exercise. Explore dance and keep yourself healthy and active. Class focuses on rhythm and technique. Great for beginners or those progressing into intermediate tap. For ages 18+, 7-8 p.m., Mondays, June 18-Aug 6, Adult Community Center (505 G Ave), $76.
Line Dance for Adults — A fun and easy hour learning basic patterns, steps and dances. Bring your friends and meet others who enjoy moving to the beat. No partner needed. For ages 18+, 10:45-11:45 a.m., Wednesdays, June 27-Aug 15, Adult Community Center (505 G Ave), $42.
