Register now for summer camps and classes

Registration for Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation summer camps and classes is open. Summer camps fill fast, so make sure you sign up soon.

Along with a wide variety of adventurous camps, there is still space in the Luscher Farm Flower Power for Kids ages 5 to 12 years old, where children can make a new gift to bring home for Mother’s Day. Take part in one of the many cooking classes offered for Kids in the Kitchen and Family Dinners. These classes are held on Saturdays at Luscher Farm.

Dare To Be Different. This class focuses on self-esteem fun! Understand the power of language, comparing yourself to others, fitting in versus belonging and why you are awesome. Ages 11 to 13, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays, May 6 to 27, $45.

Who Are You and Who Do You Want To Be? What are your strengths and talents? What are your values? What is your image of yourself?

Explore who you really are in this safe, comfortable open forum discussion. Ages 14 to 18, 3:30 to 5 p.m. Thursdays, May 8 to 29, $45.

Try a free Zumba class at the ACC. Stop by the Oak Room with your friends and see what Zumba is all about. Ages 18 and older, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 8.

Zumba exercise classes are fitness parties that blend upbeat world rhythms with easy-to-follow dance moves, for a total-body workout that “feels like a celebration.” No previous dance experience necessary. Ages 18 and older, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays, May 15 to June 26, ACC members $47.

Zumba Gold 50+. Enjoy easy to follow dance moves set to high-energy Latin and international music. Cardio-based class combining fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body using an aerobic/fitness approach. No previous dance experience necessary. Ages 50-plus, 4 to 5 p.m. Mondays, May 5 to June 30 or 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. Thursdays, May 8 to June 26, ACC members $54.

Gentle chair yoga. Focus on basic poses and sequences to promote increased mobility, flexibility and strength. Poses are done seated on a chair or the chair is used for support in standing poses. Some floor poses included at the end of class, but modified for students unable to come to the floor. Ages 50-plus, 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays, May 6 to June 24, ACC members $53.

Mother’s Day chocolate tasting celebration. Join us for a multi-media presentation as we explore the natural and history of cacao beans and examine the steps needed to transform them into the treats we all know and love. Drinking chocolate, along with a wide selection of premium bar chocolates, are tasted and ranked to determine your new favorites. Ages 18 and older, 2 to 3:30 p.m. May 8, ACC members $23.

Mother’s Day mixed media exploration. We use a canvas to layer paper (news print, magazine, maps, or music sheets) and paint and a drawing or stencil to allow underlying colors to come through. Easy enough for beginners but a lot of room to get creative and make a unique painting. Make one to celebrate all mothers. Ages 50-plus, 1 to 3 p.m. May 9, ACC members $10.
