Services offered by Oral Health Outreach

Oral Health Outreach announced the expansion of its mobile dental hygiene services at senior communities throughout the Portland metropolitan area and Willamette Valley.

The program will service independent and assisted living communities, memory care and rehabilitation facilities as well as 55+ single-family residential communities. All OHO services are performed by Oregon licensed dental hygienists.

“Preventable dental disease among seniors is increasing at epidemic levels due to limited or no access to care,” said OHO CEO Joe Markunas. “Regular and recurring visits by an OHO hygienist may very well prevent or eliminate dental disease, which can lead to or exacerbate overall health impairment.”

Dental hygiene services provided by OHO hygienists include oral health assessments, cleanings, X-rays, denture soft relines, application of sealants, fluoride or other medicine to prevent or cure dental disease. OHO hygensits can also refer patients to a dentist.

“For many residents and families, a visit to a dentist can be both costly and time consuming and often requires that a family member take time off work to provide transportation,” Markunas said. “That can add even more to the time and cost of an appointment with a dental professional. OHO eliminates that barrier to care along with the anxiety that some seniors experience when having to go to dental office for treatment.”

OHO accepts checks, credit cards or cash or they will bill most major dental insurance plans including Medicaid/Oregon Health Plan.
