Lake Oswego boys aim to learn and compete in 2017
The Lake Oswego boys water polo team is ready to learn, ready to improve and ready to compete.
The Lakers also hope they'll be ready to win when the opportunity presents itself.
"We're aiming for lots of team building and skill building this year," said Lake Oswego coach Justine Kilsby. "We're going to do a lot of (work) on the team side, being able to read teammates and know what they're going to do."
This year's team will be led by senior team captain Andrew Ness, junior team captain George Awad and two returning all-leaguers, senior goalie Blake Tarbell (a third-team all-Three Rivers League pick in 2016) and junior Grant Tarbell (another third-teamer).
"We have a mix of club kids and not so we've got a lot to learn with non-verbal communication in the pool and help defense in the pool," Kilsby said.
Also ready for varsity time are Conor Smith, junior Petee Mendoza, junior Ben Rabbino, junior Myles Williams, senior Jialin Zhang, Jared Hainley, junior Ethan Yoon, junior Clay Lucas, and junior Will McVey-Schindel.
