Bhargava aces ACT

When Dev Bhargava took the ACT test in September he said he “just hoped for the best.” The Lake Oswego High School senior got just that, as he scored a perfect 36 points on the exam.

The ACT, or American College Testing, is a four-part standardized test for high school achievement and college admissions covering English, mathematics, reading and science. Each section is scored individually on a scale of one to 36, and a composite score is provided, which is a whole number average of the four scores. The scores provide an indicator of college readiness.

To prepare for the exam, Bhargava said he worked with a Princeton Review tutor a few times.

“I think I got lucky,” he said.

Bhargava is undecided about where he would like to go to college next fall.

“Honestly, anywhere I get in I’ll be happy to go. I’d like to study biology on a premed track,” he said.

His advice to other students preparing to take college entrance exams is to “definitely study for it. The more questions you answer the more you will get the idea of the right answers.”
