In an attempt to bring Homer’s original story to life for young audiences, the Lake Oswego Junior High Drama Club will present “The Odyssey” Nov. 1 and 2 at 7 p.m.

In this fast-paced and funny adaptation, Odysseus and Pete, a member of his crew, must overcome many perils on their long voyage home from Troy, including an encounter with an awkward teenage Cyclops named Polly, some sirens crooning elevator music and other gods and monsters. Along the way both men learn some hard lessons about trust, humility and the power of brains over brawn.

Tickets are available at the door at $5 general admission and $1 for seniors.

The play is directed by Mike LaTorre.
