Talk will explore best Portland-area hikes
For The Review, Tidings
Local author Matt Reeder will discuss his new book "PDX Hiking 365: A Year-Round Guide to Hiking in Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington" at the West Linn Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 28.
Reeder's book, which was released in January, is organized by month and season. Winter hikes in the book include quiet urban trails, rainforest rivers and open desert skies. Many of the spring hikes focus on wildflowers, and summer hikes head into the mountains. For fall, he includes the best places to see colorful foliage.
Reeder's presentation and slideshow will describe some of his favorite hikes from the book — everything from old favorites to obscure classics. Books will be available for purchase after the presentation.
Reeder is a Mazama hike leader and the author of two previous hiking guidebooks, "Off the Beaten Trail: 50 Fantastic Unknown Hikes in NW Oregon and SW Washington" (2013) and "101 Hikes in the Majestic Mount Jefferson Region" (2016). He lives in Southeast Portland with his wife, Wendy.
The library is located at 1595 Burns St. in West Linn. The event is free and open to all.
