Local artists participate in Portland Open Studios tour

by: SUBMITTED PHOTOS - Beate Scheller's Mountain VillageThe Portland Open Studios tour will be held Oct. 13-14 and Oct. 20-21 in artists’ studios around the Portland metropolitan area. The tour — now in its 14th year — began as a way for artists to connect more directly with the community and share the creative process more intimately.

The tour guide can be purchased for $15 and admits two people to all the studios, on all four days of the tour. Children under 18 are admitted free of charge. The guide comes with images of artworks, coupons and an opportunity to win prizes. Also included is a foldout map with contact information and directions to the studios.

A $9.99 iPhone app is also available for two adults and children under 18. The app is good for all four days. It features an interactive map linked to Google maps, a catalogue of artworks by all artists and contact information for all artists.

West Linn area artists Deb Perry-Guetti, Beate Scheller, Patrick Noe, Carolyn Hazel Drake, Sara Swink and Harold Oxley are participating, as are Lake Oswego artists Mary Williams and Stevie and Sarah by Christopher MooneyChristopher Mooney. In all, more than 100 studios are included on the tour.

Tour guides are available from all artists at New Seasons stores, Powell’s Books and online at portlDordogne by Patrick Noeandopenstudios.com.
