CONTRIBUTED PHOTO - The exceptionally talented stonemason George Pinner is well known for the craftsmanship of his beautiful stone fireplaces that adorn some lucky historic mountain homes. Even though George was practically blind, he was said to be able to split a rock to his suiting by "smelling" the grain of the stone. George is pictured here in the 1930s on the porch of his all rock residence that he built on Faubion Loop. In George's honor, just a pine cone toss away is today's Pinner Road.
