POLICE PHOTO - Deputies responded to multiple crashes in East Multnomah County on Dec. 24 and Dec. 25. A good Samaritan was injured after stopping to assist a car that rolled onto its side on Interstate 84, police say.

Sheriff's deputies responded to the crash on the snowy lanes of eastbound I-84 near Northeast 223rd Avenue around 5:31 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 25 in Fairview.

"The first vehicle was on the shoulder off an embankment. That's why it was over on its side," explained Lieutenant Marc Shrake, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Office.

Several citizens stopped to help — when a second car lost control and collided with the first vehicle. One of the passersby suffered minor leg injuries, Shrake said.

"Drivers are urged to remain cautious while driving on East County roadways in the winter weather," a news release notes.
