Glendoveer Golf and Tennis hosts ‘Polar Express’ event

A winter wonderland event at Glendoveer Golf and Tennis from 5:30-9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, will benefit Portland Fire and Rescue Toy N Joy Makers.

The golf and tennis club will open its doors to 200 people for a Polar Express-themed evening, complete with a Santa photo station, Christmas carolers from the Centennial High School choir and a screening of “The Polar Express.”

Guests will be treated to complimentary hot chocolate, a coffee bar and gingerbread cookies. During the event, a fleet of firefighters will pick up toys collected at the golf and tennis club for Toy N Joy Makers, which helps low-income families buy Christmas presents.

Admission is $7 for adults and $3 for children ages 3-17. Children younger than 3 get in for free. All proceeds will benefit the Portland Fire and Rescue Toy N Joy Makers.

Troutdale Lions Club throws community Christmas party

The Troutdale Lions Club is hosting a community Christmas party for everyone Saturday, Dec. 7, in the Sam Cox Building at Glenn Otto Park, 1106 E. Historic Columbia River Highway.

Festivities begin at 2 p.m. with a special visit from Santa around 3:30 p.m.

There will be a Christmas tree-treat decorating station, art projects, pictures with Santa, and a silent auction with prizes that include a two-night stay at Inn at Cannon Beach. Hot cocoa, spiced cider and other beverages will also be served.

Guests are encouraged to bring their used eyeglasses and hearing aids as the Troutdale Lions Club’s community projects are focused on providing assistance for people with sight and hearing needs.

Furry friends can provide holiday stress relief

The Oregon Humane Society is inviting businesses to schedule a visit from the cargo of kittens and puppies on the Snuggle Express, Wednesday, Dec. 18 or Thursday, Dec. 19.

The event is a fundraiser for OHS, in partnership with Oregon City Subaru, which is furnishing the vehicles. A donation of $100 will bring the Snuggle Express to your business for a 15-minute visit, or $200 for a 30-minute stop. Businesses can also request a one-hour visit for $1,000.

Registration is required and must be made online at no later than Monday, Dec. 9.
