“Mustard Man” 30-year roast

Estacada resident Mark “Mustard Man” Kikel will celebrate 30 years as a comedian in the Northwest with a roast.

Watch other local comedians dole out Kikel’s comedic comeuppance at 9 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at the Copper Rooster, 5827 E. Burnside St., Portland.

Strawberry Social

Don’t miss the Springwater Grange’s annual Strawberry Social from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, June14.

A dinner of barbequed chicken and baked beans may be purchased for $7. Dinner and shortcake costs $12 or $13 if you’d like a jumbo shortcake.

A single shortcake costs $5 and jumbo shortcake costs $6.

Proceeds from the event will support building maintenance, community service projects, use of the hall for youth groups, grange members’ volunteer work and contributions to charities.

The Springwater Grange is at 24591 S. Wallens Road at the intersection of South Springwater and Wallens roads.

Timber Festival

It’s on!

Timber Park has been secured as the location for the 2014 Timber Festival.

The festival runs from noon to midnight Friday, July 4.

A $10 parking fee per car grants free admission to all of the car’s occupants. Walk-ins are admitted for $5 each. Kids ages 10 and younger get in for free.

Don’t forget to bring a blanket or chair for optimum viewing comfort.

The location offers a great view of the Big Bang Fireworks show at 10 p.m.

ARTS & CRAFTS

Gathering UFOs

Dust off your unfinished sewing or craft project to complete in the company of crafters and quilters from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at the Wade Creek House for the Unfinished Objects class.

The instructor is available to help with quilting problems. The class costs $5.

State of the arts

The Clackamas County Arts Alliance Advisory Council invites the public to a conversation of the state of the arts in Estacada 3:30-5 p.m. Thursday, June 12, in the Flora Room of the Estacada Public Library.

Participants will share their experiences and to discuss how the Arts Alliance may assist.

There will be light refreshments.

Quilt club meets

CRUISE-INS

American Legion Cruise In at the Viewpoint

A Cruise In will be held rain or shine Saturday, June 21, at the Viewpoint Restaurant, 20189 S. Springwater Road.

Admission is free to the public. There will be good food, a barbecue in the beer garden, drinks, raffle prizes, vendors and lots of fun.

Proceeds will benefit the American Legion Carl Douglas Post 74.

D.J. Larry Perini will play from 2-5 p.m. in the beer garden. Showtime is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., judging from noon to 2 p.m.

Kruise In For Kids

The second annual Kruise In for Kids will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at Clackamas Valley Baptist Church, 19175 S.E. Eagle Creek Road.

There will be food, music, trophies, raffles, goodie bags and fun for the whole family.

The event is a fundraiser to purchase backpacks and school supplies for local children in need.

ESTACADA LIBRARY

Summer Reading Kick-off Party

The library’s free, all-ages summer reading program is about to start.

This year’s science theme is “Fizz, Boom, Read!”

The library will host a kick-off party from noon to 3 p.m. Monday, June 16.

All kids who sign up for summer reading at the library during the kickoff party will get free hot dogs and drinks from Little Lews.

Kindergarten Priority Standards

Estacada kindergarten teachers will hold a meeting to discuss kindergarten priority standards at a meeting from 2:50-3:50 p.m. Friday, June 6, in Room C-4 (Christina Harrington’s room) of Clackamas River Elementary.

FREE MEALS

Free Summer Meal Program

The Estacada School District is offering free meals to children ages 18 and under at four sites June 16-Aug. 16.

Breakfast will be served 8:30-9 a.m. Monday-Friday at Clackamas River Elementary, 301 N.E. Second Ave.

Lunches will be available noon to 1 p.m. Monday-Friday at Clackamas River Elementary; 11:20-11:50 a.m. Monday-Friday at Eagle Crest Mobile Estates, 25800 S.E. Eagle Creek Road; noon to 12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday at Eagle Creek Elementary, 30391 S.E. Highway 211; and noon to 12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday at the Estacada Skate Park/Library, 825 N.W. Wade St.

Adults may purchase breakfast for $2.50 and lunch for $3.50.

Community Center

The Estacada Community Center offers free breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon the third Saturday of each month.

FUNDRAISER

Chairs for Charity

Wade Creek House is holding a Chairs for Charity fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 7.

There will be a silent auction of creative chairs designed by local artists.

In support of a Wade Creek House member who suffers from a rare incurable lung disease called lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), all proceeds will be sent to the LAM Foundation.

Admission is free. Refreshments will be served.

PFLAG

The next meeting of the Clackamas County chapter of Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) is 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Atkinson Memorial Church, 710 Sixth St., Oregon City.

Grief Share

The Grief Share group helps those who have lost a loved one find comfort and acceptance and to find the joy that remains in their lives. Confidentiality is required of all who attend. AA offers hope

The Estacada friendship group of AA offers hope and help for the alcoholic who still suffers. Meetings are held from 7-8:30 p.m. every Monday and Friday at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church Community Hall, 297 N. Al-Anon and Alateen

If someone’s drinking bothers you, Al-Anon and Alateen can help.

Meetings are available just a 20-minute drive from Estacada at Eastridge Church, 14100 S.E. Sunnyside Road, Clackamas.

Alateen meets at 7 p.m. every Tuesday.
