Dodrill succeeds Johnson as Chamber president
There is new leadership at the Estacada Chamber of Commerce.
During the group's meeting on Thursday, Dec. 21, former Estacada Mayor Brent Dodrill succeeded Bennett Johnson as Chamber president, Kim Ward of U.S. Bank was reelected to the board of directors and current Estacada Mayor Sean Drinkwine was elected to the board of directors.
Board member Joe Kaufman nominated Dodrill, Drinkwine and Ward during the meeting. There were no other contestants, and the three were elected to their positions unanimously.
Johnson had been president of the Chamber of Commerce for two years. During her tenure, the group established new events such as the spring gala fundraiser, the community trade fair and the community recognition event; re-established its nonprofit status and became financially solvent. Johnson noted during the Dec. 21 meeting that the Chamber has more than $25,000 in reserve funds.
"I've enjoyed working with the board, and I've enjoyed accomplishing things and hitting our goals," Johnson said. "We hit virtually all of our goals. That's very satisfying."
Dodrill noted that he "appreciates all that Bennett has done to set the course" for the Chamber.
Drinkwine, who will serve on the board of directors as a representative of Whitney Signs, said that the Chamber is "in the perfect direction" because of Johnson.
"It's great to come into the Chamber so strong," he added.
